My last spring break has finally come to an end! Although, I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing…
For the whole month of March the city of Miami has been packed with spring breakers! Specifically South Beach, which has long been a spring break location for many years. It’s funny because just a few days ago I called my Grandma to tell her how spring break went and she told me that she remembers her friends going to South Beach when she was in school! Maybe that was like 60 years ago, but still!
I’m back in my classes and taking life a little more serious now, but Im deciding to reminisce a little, so here it goes!
Of course, the number one activity to do in South Beach would be going to the actual beach. (Which is GORGEOUS by the way!) What I love best about the beach is the pure white sand and the vibrant colored lifeguard stands. It is the perfect atmosphere for photoshoots and dragging your best friend along makes it a whole lot better.
Walking along Ocean Drive is also a must! Especially, if you’re a tourist visiting the city. All throughout the month of spring break the streets are packed! There is plenty to do. You can find restaurants, bars, shopping and many hotels to peak your head into. Since I am a local I really only go to Ocean Drive for two things…. People watching and hotel sight seeing!
When I travel and write my blogs for each city I visit, I really like to find at least one hotel that I think is absolutely beautiful. The Beacon Hotel is just steps from the beach, while also being right on Ocean Drive. The Beacon puts the heart of Miami into your hands. It is a boutique oceanfront hotel that specializes in personal, quality service that makes one feel like royalty in a palace. The hotel on the outside is completely white, but as soon as you walk through the main doors, you are slapped in the face with the most vibrant colors. The oranges in the lobby and the blues in the guest rooms are what really brings the hotel to life!
My fav. I have rented Citi Bikes in Miami, New York City, and Copenhagen. During the busy season in Miami (especially spring break) it is much easier and more fun to get around the city on a bike. The bikes can be rented from 30 minutes to the whole entire day at a low rate.
Lastly, make this one a top priority! Leave time at the end of your day to watch the sunset! Grab your best friend, your boyfriend, or your mamma and soak it all in!
